In the summer before my 30th birthday, I tossed my Hollywood career aside, hopped into my 1998 Toyota Tacoma and drove from California to Massachusetts and back again, picking up hitchhiking canines and driving them from shelters to rescues, rescues to foster homes, and foster homes to forever homes. This is the story of where the dogs led me, along the highways and byways of America and into the deepest regions of my heart, on our shared quest to find Home.

"...All was blue above him, and all was blue below him. As the sun neared the horizon, he panicked. He had no idea from which way he had come and where he was going, all was blue—he had become enveloped into this blanket of blue with no idea of what was east or west, or north or south. He was becoming tired, but did not know which way was the path to safety. As the fiery ball of light disappeared beneath the earth, the bird fully comprehended his situation. All this time he had not been flying in any of the cardinal directions, but instead, straight up into the blue heavens..."
